Romans Pt 1 - Strengthening the Synagogue

Paul wrote Romans in about 57 AD to Strengthen a struggling

congregation. The struggle grew out of the Jewish leadership of the

synagogue dealing with the division over the Messiah and the increasing

Gentile presence. Emperor Claudius also had a hand in the rift. Paul

didn't intend to write a great legal or theological treatise that shaped

western civilization, rather he wrote a pastoral letter to heal the

division and give Jew & Gentile a hope and a future together.
