Beliefs

Restoration Fellowship is united around the person of Yeshua the Messiah, whom you may know better by the name Jesus Christ.

We take our name from Acts 3:21--"Heaven must receive Him, until the time of the restoration of all the things that God spoke about long ago through the mouth of His holy prophets."

We look for the Restoration, not that looks backwards, but forwards to the world that is coming of Yeshua in Power at the Kingdom of God  It is a restoration that will fix our relationship with God to the way it was always meant to be.  Even Creation itself will be restored.

Restoration Fellowship seeks to reconnect believers in Yeshua with the biblical foundations of our faith, many of which were ignored or abandoned after the 1st century.  It is a Hebraic and/or Messianic perspective of the Scriptures, both Old & New Testament that highlights their connectedness and not their separation.

Restoration Fellowship believes that the best dictionary for New Testament words and concepts is the Tanakh, the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings--what most Christians call the Old Testament.

We are a people that meet on the Sabbath and seek to keep the biblical festivals as outlined in Leviticus 23.   This may sound different but we are still united around the Messiah and seeking to live as citizens of the Kingdom.

Though it’s origin is uncertain, you may have heard and even used the phrase, “in essentials, unity; in doubtful matters (non-essentials), liberty; in all things, charity.”

That's one reason why Restoration Fellowship is recognized as a church plant within the Southern Baptist Convention, part of the North American Mission Board.

Restoration Fellowship is a member of the Southern Baptist Messianic Fellowship.  Never heard of them?  Check out their website-- www.sbmessianic.net.

Even the Southern Baptist Convention’s own, Albert Mohler, has proposed a similar structure he calls the Theological Triage in which the first tier theology defines the faith in Messiah, the second tier refines the faith into denominational distinctives in practice, and the third tier are the most disputable even among brothers and sisters within the same congregation.

Restoration Fellowship wants to state clearly that on the Essentials of faith in Christ, we remain in agreement.  In all things that are relevant to issues and beliefs that would impact salvation, things like the identity of Christ as fully divine and fully human, the Trinity, and salvation by grace through faith; Restoration Fellowship has not deviated.

Much of what you have read so far on this site probably sounds different from what you’re used to.  These elements fall more into the 2nd Tier levels of non-essential matters which are distinctives but require Liberty.  Examples would be using the name Yeshua, teaching on and practicing the Feasts, our relationship to the Torah.

RF seeks to maintain our unity with our mainstream brothers and sisters in Messiah, despite our differences, because we believe we are still part of the same family.  In fact, that is the ultimate goal of Yeshua—that we might be One—One New Man, both Jew and Gentile in Messiah.

This is the Goal, the direction our Savior is taking the people of God.  In Ephesians 1& 3, Paul calls this the Mystery--3:2-6--"Surely you have heard about the plan of God’s grace given to me for you— that the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote before briefly. When you read this, you can understand my insight into the mystery of Messiah— which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations, as it has now been revealed by the Ruach to His holy emissaries and prophets. This mystery is that the Gentiles are joint heirs and fellow members of the same body and co-sharers of the promise in Messiah Yeshua through the Good News."

And in Revelation 10:7--this Oneness of Jew & Gentile is completed.  "But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel—when he is about to trumpet—the mystery of God is completed, just as He declared to His servants the prophets."

This is the goal and the direction He wants to take us, so to that end, we hope to share with our mainstream brothers and sisters things like the Jewishness of Yeshua, the Prophetic nature of the Feasts, the symbolism that points to Yeshua in the Passover, a hebraic teaching through the Gospel of John among others.

Pastor Kelly & his wife, Vicky are both available to Sunday congregations that want to hear & learn more.

Southern Baptist's express their general beliefs in the Baptist Faith & Message.  Part of the heritage of such partnerships is the autonomy of the local church in which no denominational hierarchy controls or mandates anything to our fellowship.
